Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe, non-surgical method used to help reduce the signs of aging, based on the time-tested principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Ultra-thin sterile disposable needles are inserted into various locations on the face and hairline. Current theories suggest that the blood flow drawn to the inserted needle improves the micro/local blood circulation, as well as potentially stimulating collagen & elastin production. This combination may lead to the effect of ‘filling-out’ facial lines, while also giving a gentle tightening and firmness to the skin.
No...Cosmetic Acupuncture fits into a unique cosmetic category unto its own. Although the effects are not as immediate or marked as Botox or injectables, it often produces more subtle, yet noticeable, skin changes over time. The effect comes from standard acupuncture needles alone, nothing is injected.

Cosmetic Acupuncture may help maintain results obtained through Botox/Injectables, thus reducing the frequency of costly treatments...it's like getting the best of both worlds!
Cosmetic Acupuncture also draws a strong interest from those with general concerns over, and/or wishing to avoid, injectable cosmetics. Being offered as part of a Naturopathic service, Cosmetic Acupuncture is significantly less expensive, especially due to insurance coverage.
Cosmetic Acupuncture can be used in the weeks/months ahead of your wedding day, or any other special event, to help give you that radiant complexion for the big day!...Side benefit: Acupuncture also helps with stress reduction (another essential component to have when planning a wedding!)
Most Extended health care insurances fully or partially cover visits to Naturopathic Doctors. Potential clients should review their policy to verify if Naturopathic Medicine (not acupuncture) is covered by their plan. In Canada, Acupuncture is part of a Naturopathic Doctors’ scope of practice in certain provincial jurisdictions. Verify details with your local Naturopathic Doctor.
Recent studies using Cosmetic Acupuncture show that improvements in skin moisturization and elasticity requires at least 5-6 sessions at a frequency of 2 sessions/week. Some may require up to 10 sessions for full results. The effects are not permanent, and do require maintenance. Maintenance needs vary by individual, but are generally 1 session/month. The above applies to regular use; periodic users can enjoy the relaxation effects of Facial Acupuncture at any frequency of use
